CARE TIPS

Rattan

  • Place your rattan furniture in places where humidity and heat levels are consistent, as changes can result in warps or cracks due to expansion and contraction.

  • Moisture and heat can cause damage to any finish. Always wipe up moisture promptly and dry with a soft cloth. Do not place hot items directly on the rattan surface.

  • Over time, air and sunlight may cause changes in the colour of the rattan. To reduce the change in colour, do not place your furniture in areas directly exposed to sunlight such as in front of windows. If you are placing items on your rattan furniture, occasionally rotate the items to allow a more uniform color to develop.

  • Dust regularly using a soft cloth or feather duster to remove dust and debris from the surface of the rattan. For intricate weaving, a soft-bristled brush or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment can help reach the nooks and crannies.

  • For further cleaning, a soft, lint-free cloth with water and a drop of mild soap is recommended. Do not use strong cleaning products such as bleach as this may dissolve the finish. If in doubt, test the cleaning product on a small patch in an inconspicuous location before applying to the rest of the furniture. Avoid soaking the rattan, as excess water can damage the fibres. Remove soap residue with a clean damp cloth and dry with a towel, then let dry completely in a ventilated area.

  • Every six months, use lemon oil or polish available from hardware stores, to protect the finish and retain a shine.

Upholstery (Bonded Leather)

  • Vacuum or wipe with a clean dry cloth regularly to remove dust.

  • For further cleaning, use a damp cloth with mild soap and water. Do not use any alcohol-based products as these may cause damage to the leather dyes and cause discolouration.

  • Keep away from heat, as this can cause damage to the leather surface. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause fading. Place away from windows or use curtains/blinds to limit exposure.

  • To prevent stains, always clean spills immediately by gently blotting the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap, do not rub as it may cause the area to spread.

Upholstery (Polyester)

  • Small cushion cover can be machine washed with mild soap/detergent, do not use bleach, alcohol-based products or fabric softeners as they can weaken the fibres and may also cause discolouration. Air dry, or tumble dry on low heat setting. Remove from the dryer promptly to minimise wrinkles. If needed, iron on a low setting with a cloth barrier to prevent direct heat contact.

Solid Brass

  • If you prefer to restore the brass hardware to a shine, you may use a metal polish suitable for brass metal. Do a small patch test in an inconspicuous area before polishing the whole hardware.

  • Avoid using abrasive cleaners that can scratch and dull metal surfaces.

EDWARD Cane Chair

$490.00 SGD

HANDMADE BY ARTISANS FROM SUSTAINABLE RATTAN

Marrying the art of tradition with improved methods

The backrest, yoke and armrests are made by skilfully joining selected rattan core and then moulded to form a flat smooth surface on one side.

This sustainable technique produces a beautiful look that requires less material and produces less waste than creating a plank from wood.

A CONTEMPORARY TAKE ON A TRADITIONAL AESTHETIC

Inspired by traditional Chinese scholar chairs

This version changes the traditional sitting posture, from a stiff, if not serious one, to one with a relaxing lean-back, while still appearing refined.
