CARE TIPS
Mirror
- Moisture can damage the backing and frame of the mirrors, causing black spots and other issues. Ensure your mirror is placed in well-ventilated areas and avoid hanging in bathrooms or very humid environments that do not have proper ventilation.
- When moving or installing mirrors, hold your mirror by the sides rather than the corners to avoid stress on the glass, which can lead to cracks or breaks. Ensure your mirror is securely mounted using appropriate hanging hardware that can support its weight.
- Always use a soft, lint-free microfibre cloth or a cotton cloth to clean mirrors. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the surface.
- Use a glass cleaner or a solution of water and a few drops of dish soap. You can also make a natural cleaner by mixing equal parts water and white vinegar. Do not use harsh chemicals, ammonia-based cleaners, or abrasive products on mirrors, as these can damage the reflective coating and the frame.
- Spray the cleaner onto the cloth, not directly onto your mirror, to prevent excess moisture from seeping into the edges and backing.
- Gently wipe your mirror in a circular motion to avoid streaks. If streaks appear, buff them out with a dry, clean section of the cloth.
- After cleaning, use a dry microfibre cloth to wipe your mirror dry. This prevents water spots and streaks from forming.
Rattan Frame
- Over time, air and sunlight may cause changes in the colour of the rattan. To reduce the change in colour, do not place your mirror in areas directly exposed to sunlight such as in front of windows.
- Dust regularly using a soft cloth or feather duster to remove dust and debris from the surface of the rattan. A soft-bristled brush or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment can help reach the nooks and crannies.
- For further cleaning, a soft, lint-free cloth with water and a drop of mild soap is recommended. Do not use strong cleaning products such as bleach as this may dissolve the finish on the frame. If in doubt, test the cleaning product on a small patch in an inconspicuous location before applying to the rest of the frame. Avoid soaking the rattan, as excess water can damage the fibres. Remove soap residue with a clean damp cloth and dry with a towel, then let dry completely in a ventilated area.
- Every six months, use lemon oil or polish available from hardware stores, to protect the finish and retain a shine.
Solid Brass
- If you prefer to restore the brass hardware to a shine, you may use a metal polish suitable for brass metal. Do a small patch test in an inconspicuous area before polishing the whole hardware.
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners that can scratch and dull metal surfaces.
